Ear Infection Remedy

Today I'm going to share a story about my daughter and her ear infection. Rachael has had severe ear infections but not too often and each one gets worse every time they occur. This time she had a cold with no signs of ear pain until suddenly she felt shooting pains in her ear within hours of breaking a fever. Luckily the drop-in clinic was open and she received antibiotics for her infection, though as it turned out, the medicine was not strong enough - I've learned to work harder to get an appointment at her doctor's office where her records are kept! Anyway Rachael did get relief from the ear pain, but could not hear very well. By the next week she was at the doctor's office and still couldn't hear but had no signs of damage to the ear drum - whew! It was frustrating for her, she couldn't hear our conversations or much of the TV or music. The doctor put her on a stronger antibiotic which unfortunately only gave her hives at night. We were all exhausted! Finally as I seem to forget everytime to take her to my chiropractor, I finally did. And she gave us a strange remedy to clear the fluid from the ears.
Boil a whole medium onion for 10 - 15 minutes in water in a medium saucepan
Remove from the pan, cut the onion in half and cover with a thin cloth. Hold half of the boiled onion on the ear, or away from the ear if too hot. In Rachael's case she used both halves of the onion.
Leave the onion on the ear for 20 minutes, the drying properties of the onion, and the moisture from the boiled onion will draw out the fluid.
Rachael was reluctant the first night but grew even more tired of not being able to hear that she finally wanted to try the onion remedy. By the next day she could hear a little better and with only one additional treatment could hear 90% better. We were very relieved and amazed by this simple remedy, and if you ever need ear pain or fluid relief this remedy is for you!
